From the house it is easy to get close to the many
interesting places that are scattered throughout the council
of Llanes, as well as others, Asturias and the neighboring
community of Cantabria, which for its special attraction,
deserve to be visited. This is the case of the Picos de
Europa, the Lakes of Covadonga or the El Soplao Cave ("The
Sistine Chapel" of geology).
When the sea is raging, the jesters of
El Bramadoriu (Llames de Pría),
Arenillas (Vidiago),
Ballota (Cué) or
Santiuste (La Franca) offer the visitor a natural
spectacle that is hard to forget. The jesters of Llanes are
declared a Protected Natural Monument.
(Click on the
name of the jesters to see the videos).
Without leaving Llanes, we recommend a relaxing walk
through Sports Port to the breakwater, where we can
contemplate The Cubes of Memory, Ibarrola, and back we will
pass through El Fuerte, El Sablón beach and the spectacular
Paseo de San Pedro, on the cliffs and from where we will
have a magnificent panoramic view of all Llanes, with the
Sierra del Cuera as a backdrop.
Another essential visit is the Historical Center of
Llanes, totally pedestrian, where we will find the Basilica
of Santa Maria, the Medieval Tower, the House of Culture,
the Chapel of Santa Ana, the Chapel of the Magdalena and a
large number of houses emblazoned and palaces, such as El
Cercáu, from the 16th century, Miranda, from the 17th
century, Duque de Estrada, or Gastañaga, built on a 14th
century tower, enlarged in the 17th century.
Throughout the Council of Llanes there are, apart from
the typical Asturian cider houses, countless typical
establishments in the area where you can taste the tasty
regional dishes formed mostly by seafood, fish, delicious
meats and delicious home-made desserts. |
